  • Smartphone “Jack of all trades.
  • Reliable battery with 5000 mAh capacity.
  • Up to five years of software and security updates
Cons
  • Low frequency 5G support
  • The user interface can be slow at times
  • Cameras are not as powerful as flagships

If you’re looking for bang for your buck, I’d suggest skipping the S and Z series devices and looking at the Galaxy A35 5G. There are three main reasons why the Galaxy A35 5G should be bought over any other phone under $400: For that price, you get a great 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a triple camera setup that includes a 50MP main sensor, and A powerful 5000 mAh battery.

It’s clear that Samsung knows what features users value most, and if you have a preference beyond this list, testing my Galaxy A35 5G gave me enough confidence that it will meet your mobile needs. Based on the older A34 5G, the latest model features a glass back, a faster Exynos chipset and an improved camera system. Reddit users seem to agree that the A35 5G’s battery life is also one of its highlights.

The A-series smartphones are also covered by Samsung’s five-year commitment to software and security updates, which is a big advantage over rival Motorola and OnePlus phones.

Powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset and available with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, the A35 5G provides solid performance for everyday tasks, although it trails behind competitors like the Pixel 6a in benchmarks. The battery life is impressive, offering a respectable longevity and fast 25W charging.

The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, which delivers vibrant and detailed photos, particularly in good lighting conditions. The additional 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro cameras add versatility to the photography experience. However, low-light performance and video capabilities are areas where it shows some limitations.

Running Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI 6.1, the A35 5G comes with a commitment to four years of OS updates and five years of security patches, ensuring longevity in terms of software support.

Overall, the Galaxy A35 5G is a robust choice for those seeking a feature-rich yet affordable 5G smartphone, though it faces stiff competition from similarly priced models

6. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 The best compact Samsung phones

Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-5

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is part of Samsung’s innovative foldable smartphone lineup.Z Flip 5 features a clamshell design that allows it to fold in half, making it compact and portable. It has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, offering vibrant colors and smooth scrolling. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, providing high performance and efficiency.

Pros
  • High quality materials, fit and finish
  • IPX8 waterproof
  • A large external display is a game changer.
  • The most pocketable Galaxy phone yet.
Cons
  • No telephoto lens.
  • The battery is quite weak compared to larger phones.

While the Z Fold 5 is Samsung’s best foldable smartphone, it’s the Z Flip 5 that will sell the most and appeal to the masses. The flip phone is not only cheaper than the Z Fold, it is more compact and portable and more user-friendly.

Aside from the shape-shifting display, the Z Flip 5 looks a lot like the standard Samsung Galaxy S-series flagship, with a large 6.7-inch AMOLED panel that’s sharp and bright, up to 512GB of RAM for high-resolution photos and videos. , and a healthy battery capacity of 3700 mAh powers everything.

I’ve been testing the flip phone for a few weeks now and I’m impressed with how much Samsung has improved over the last generation Z Flip 4. Thanks to the new 3.4-inch external display, the gap-free hinge design is “very strong” and improves stability, according to one Reddit user. In my full review, I mentioned that unless Samsung unveiled some version of the XR headset by the end of last year (which it never did), the Z Flip 5 will undoubtedly be the company’s most ambitious product in 2023. .

Those who thrive on social media and content creation will especially like the Z Flip 5’s ability to switch between video camera modes and shooting styles like Flexible Mode, just like its predecessor. The camera system on these devices may be multiple on par with the recent Samsung S24 Ultra and Plus models, but they are durable enough for everyday shooting.

Why choose Samsung as your smartphone?

While previous comparisons have shown Apple ahead of Samsung in overall phone quality, Samsung may be the better option in 2024. One reason is the variety of models at different prices, from the A-series to sub-$500 models. S-series for premium buyers. Having tested the latest phones from both brands (and others), the Samsung Galaxy continues to offer the most features and functionality at a relatively competitive price.

Given the brand’s popularity, Samsung has much stronger after-sales support, including a larger selection of cases and accessories, as well as more certified repair technicians.

Things to consider while choosing a Samsung phone:

Here are the key factors we look for when selecting the best options:

  • Design: Unlike the way we compare the best Android phones, most of the Samsung phones we compare at different price points come with hardware. Choosing the best one takes into account how the phone is made, what materials the manufacturer chooses, and whether the device can withstand a hit or two.
  • Camera: Camera systems in Samsung phones have gotten really good over the past few years, so much so that you’ll be safe even if you go for a mid-range phone like the Galaxy A54.
  • Special features: If there’s one thing that sets most Samsung phones apart from other manufacturers, it’s their unique features. From the S24 Ultra with a built-in stylus and 200MP camera to the foldable Z Fold and Z Flip screens, you’ll experience a sense of wonder at using something different.
  • Availability: Samsung has a reputation for offering wild phones to the press, even when they aren’t available That’s why every option on this list is available for purchase at the time of writing, either from Samsung’s website or your local carrier store.

Which Samsung phone has the best camera?

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has the best camera of any Samsung phone and one of the best cameras on the phone market. It has a 200MP main camera with four secondary cameras that allow you to take extremely high-quality photos, including close-ups and ultra-wide-angle shots. The S24 Ultra can record video in up to 8K UHD quality at 30fps, making it one of the most powerful phone cameras money can buy.

Is it worth buying Samsung S23?

A year later, the Samsung Galaxy S23 is still worth buying. Compared to this year’s S series phones, the previous generation mostly lags behind in Galaxy AI features and camera performance. But still, at the now reduced retail price, the Galaxy S23 covers 80% of the S24’s experience. This makes it an ideal alternative to the latest Samsung phones, even if they are over a year old.

What will the next Samsung foldable device look forward to?

Next in line are the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, which are expected to be released in the summer. Recent rumors suggest that Samsung plans to launch the devices a week before the Summer Olympics as the company is a major sponsor of the sporting event. Specifically, Z Fold 6 users can expect an improved form factor, an updated processor and new software features for the foldable design.
